To say Nikola's plans had gone slightly awry was quite possible the understatement of the year. Reviving the vampire species, his lifelong goal achieved just not exactly how he had planned or with whom. It wasn't like he had a choice not when it was Kate dying, life leaving her quickly and Nikola feeling... guilty. Her choices and chances were running out fast and Nikola had one tiny bit of altered source blood left, hidden in his jacket pocket.

He had a choice. He could revive the vampire species or he could save Katherine. Nikola had stupidly chosen to save Kate. A decision he was already beginning to regret as he waited for her to awake. Honestly he could have let her die, he could have just lived with it but he knew Helen would be angry and knew Helen would have bitched at him for at least a hundred years... so he had saved her.

Well, and taken her secretly back to one of his more secure homes. He had saved her life but well, she was one of his kind now he wanted to see the results of his experiment slash kind gesture before he revealed it to Helen. All Helen knew was that they were both missing. He'd get round to telling her the truth eventually, maybe after a bottle of wine or two to celebrate him not being dead. Maybe a kiss if he was lucky.

Nikola, smirking, was so ingrossed in that idea that he hadn't noticed Kate waking up.

The last thing Kate remembers, she was dying. She knows she was dying. She'd already kissed her life goodbye. So...why is she wearing royal purple silk lingerie? And sleeping in a bed that cost more than most of what she'd earned her whole life? Why is she so hungry she could eat...

Her head tilts to the side, eyes widen. Holy crap.

She goes to get up and flies halfway across the room. This? Is either the most awesome thing ever or someone is going to die. Maybe both. Killing seems like a good idea.

First she has to find someone to kill. So she pads out barefoot into the hall, expecting Magnus to stop her. But there's no Magnus and eventually she finds--

"Oh. You did not." She launches herself at him from ten feet away. Asshole.
