There was something about the way Alcuin's sheets felt against his skin, soft and smooth like butter, expensive and rich and glorious. The lure of his sheets and company was calling to Nikola and he was too weak to resist. Really he shouldn't be calling upon Alcuin at this hour but well, he was bored and horny and he had finished his latest piece of theoretical brilliance and he wanted someone to stroke his... ego. And Alcuin was always pleased to see him, where as Helen usually was not. Especially not at this hour. Especially with his intentions.

Slipping quietly into Alcuin's room, Nikola closed the door behind him and began to remove his clothes layer by layer. He could just make out the body in bed, lying innocently asleep and waiting for him. His very own sleeping beauty to awake from slumber. Smirking, Nikola pulled back the sheets and slid into the bed sighing at the feel of those sheets against his skin.

"Alcuin," Nikola murmured as he wrapped an arm around the warm body. Hand moving against warm, delicious skin? Nikola frowned as he went to bury his nose in Alcuin's neck, his body tensing as he realised his mistake. This was most certainly not Alcuin "You're not Alcuin."

My dreams had been troubled and ill those first nights since my arrival on that strange island, filled with faces from home asking why I did not return. Hyacinthe's was the most difficult to bear, his hand outstretched for mine as he stood on his lonely isle. Perhaps I could be forgiven, then, that when I did sleep without those dreams, it was soundly and deeply, so much so that I did not hear the arrival of an unfamiliar step in the room I shared with Alcuin. The hand was less easy to explain, save for the yearning I had to wake one morning to my consort's familiar features. To have that kind of contact was sorely missed, but this hand had none of the familiar callouses of my Casseline which made my eyes open and the voice that spoke in my ear was accented strangely and certainly not one I recognized in the least.

With a curse I would ordinarily be ashamed to use, I threw an arm back to push the strange man away, the panic of the moment overriding my more common sense. Any person sneaking into this bedroom would of course only do so with the permission of the owner, but that didn't change the matter. My voice was a panicked hiss as instinctively I spoke in my native tongue, "Who do you think you are!? What are you doing?"

Nikola moved ineffectively back against the arm pushing him away, scowling as he moved away sitting up. In the dim light he could make out her features she was beautiful, rather breathtaking actually but that still didn't stop the annoyance sinking into his features and posture.

"Who do I think I am? I'm Nikola Bloody Tesla," Nikola replied. "Who are you? And why are you in Alcuin's bed?"

"Whoever you are it does not excuse your actions!"

I was wearing little more than my underclothes and while I had never been shy, I held the blankets tight to me as I tried to work my way through the moment. I was rarely flustered like this, trained to be at ease even during the most stressful of circumstances, and Elua only knew the things I'd survived, but this was a... violation.

"I live here, Messire, why are you sneaking inside in the dead of night?"

[identity profile] thedevamper.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh for the love of-" Nikola scowled as the woman tugged the blankets tight to me, leaving him minus the sheet. Taking a pillow and placing it over his lap, Nikola exhaled and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I came here to see my apprentice. Alcuin. He hadn't told me he was inviting someone else home with him tonight. Really if he wanted to bring a woman to bed, he could have at least let me invite Helen."

[identity profile] submitwithwill.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"This is interesting way to greet your... apprentice." I couldn't stop glaring, certainly there had to be an explanation but Alcuin had told her he expected no visitors. Certainly not under these circumstances.

The change in language didn't even phase me, I'd been speaking Cruithne long enough it was nearly part of my nature and I could change back and forth with ease. "And we are not lovers, Messire, he is my brother."

"Yes, well I'm an interesting sort of man." Nikola replied tersely before staring at the woman in comprehension. Well, Alcuin would have been immensely pleased about that and it did sort of explain why the pair of them were sleeping together still Nikola was going to remain scowling until Alcuin came. "Let me guess then Phedre?"

[identity profile] submitwithwill.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oui." My temper settled a little as Alcuin's guest recognized me. If he knew that much, he had at least held some conversations with Alcuin, a fact that while reassuring, was not enough on its own to set me entirely at ease. Dropping the blanket, I slid off the bed, looking for something more substantial than the thin top I wore. I knew there was a great deal that he could see through the fabric, but I was still more covered than he. It seemed polite to offer the blanket to Alcuin's... guest.

"I have not been here long, else I'm certain I would have heard of you... what was your name again?" I knew, rarely if ever do I forget the things I've heard, Delaunay's teaching was too strong in me, but I saw no reason to let him know it.

[identity profile] thedevamper.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Nikola's eyes lingered on her for a moment before he took the blanket, pulling it over his body.

"Tesla. Nikola Tesla." Nikola replied though the name Will was on the tip of his tongue. The idea of using Will's name to escape the explanation to Alcuin as to what he was doing in bed with his sister. "I'd say it was a pleasure to meet you but this wasn't exactly what I had in mind tonight. I need a drink."

[identity profile] submitwithwill.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nor I. I had hoped for a restful night." And I was sorely mistaken. However, the situation was what it was and for Alcuin's sake I would make the best of it.

"Allow me to find something more appropriate to wear, and I'll see what Alcuin keeps in stock. I believe you had clothes when you arrived?" I would be a polite as I could, but the longer he stood there, naked, the more irritated I became.

[identity profile] thedevamper.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're not leaving? Of course you're not," Nikola replied huffing in annoyance before reaching for his clothes and slowly redressing with care and precision. Nikola was certainly going to expect Alcuin to make it up to him for this, this was not what he had wanted tonight. "He keeps horrible palm wine but right now, it'll do."

[identity profile] submitwithwill.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I live here, of course I'm not leaving."

I found a robe of sorts that I could slide on and after cinching the sash tight I felt more ready to face Alcuin's guest. I had been thrown and it was a feeling that I was simultaneously unused to and irritated by. I didn't know this man and it threw into sharp clarity that my near-brother had an entire life and relationships that I still knew nothing about. From the day I'd entered Delaunay's home to the day he and Alcuin were cruelly taken from me, we'd known everything about each other and now in some ways we were strangers.

I took a moment to steady my expression and calm my nerves before heading out to the main living area, looking for the wine this Nikola mentioned.

"I meant his bed," Nikola replied, the prospect of having to build an additional room to Alcuin's home not exactly thrilling him. Although it would be good preparation for the project and design he was secretly working on for his own home (and the underground lab he intended to build out of sight of Helen's watchful eye.)

Nikola redid his cufflinks, adjusting his cravat before exiting Alcuin's room. Really, this was just the perfect ending to an abysmal day. "He keeps it over there. So, when did you arrive?"

[identity profile] submitwithwill.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have no other to go to that will keep me close to my family."

It took a moment, but I found the libation and a pair of glasses, taking a moment to pull myself further together as I poured the drinks. Who was he to suggest who Alcuin took to his bed, for whatever reason? Had my foster brother expected company, he surely would have said and I would have found other accommodation, but there was a possessive edge to his tone that I did not care for and it made me stubborn.

"The day before yesterday. It has been a very long few days for me, I fear my manners may be suffering." I gave him a slight smile as I handed over the drink, wondering if my words were truer than I realized. Alcuin's judgement could not be so far wrong as to choose a lover unwisely.

[identity profile] thedevamper.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
"How about the couch?" Nikola murmured under his breath. At least Alcuin wasn't sleeping with this one, although if he had been it would have been a vast improvement on that idiot child.

Taking the drink Nikola sighed at the mouthful, smiling slightly back at her. "As are mine. I wasn't expecting anyone to be here, let alone in Alcuin's bed." Nikola replied, that was about as close to an apology as one would hope to get from Nikola ever.

[identity profile] submitwithwill.livejournal.com 2011-12-01 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
For the sake of my temper and his, I pretended I didn't hear the words he muttered. I'd hate to think that I'd misheard him, almost as I would have hated to think I understood him completely. What was his fear? That I would take Alcuin from him? This Nikola Tesla was either the most jealous man I'd met, or the most possessive and in all honesty I didn't find either appealing in the least. But the choice of lovers was Alcuin's and I wouldn't say anything under these circumstances.

"Imriel has the other room, and there are only the two."
