It was his birthday again. Another year, another day of ageing and he could feel it. He could feel himself getting old. It was disgusting. Really, he hadn't minded ageing disgracefully when he hadn't been ageing but now he was it was ridiculous how much he hated it. He'd have to permanently ban his birthday unless they wanted to make it Nikola Tesla day and then he was all for it.
Working hard, he was construction some new equipment for the small child who seemed to idolise him whilst scribbling notes for another piece of work. Muttering to himself he hadn't even heard the door or the steps down into his private lab beneath his hut. Looking up he was startled by the appearance of his other favourite leggy, Brunette Brits.
"Hello, I hope you've brought me wine. It is my birthday," Nikola said to Mac with a smirk.

"No, absolutely not. The child is going to be called McHale. And not Nikola but you can pick something else suitable when we know the sex," Mac says emphatically.

"You aren't married to me and I'm the one giving birth. McHale," Mac says. "And I'll get a Council decree if I have to. You can name it."

It was ridiculous really but at least he would chose something and then he would change the surname to suit him when she wasn't looking.

"It's my child too and I'm carrying it," Mac insists. "It will have my name. If we were married, it might be different, but we're not."

"I get to pick the other name though," Nikola said, pouring himself a glass before forgoing the glass entirely and drinking straight from the bottle.

"It's for the best, Nikola. You know I wanted more than you could give me."
