Aug. 27th, 2020 02:31 pmThis is the final engineering class and at the end of the term Nikola expects his students to undertake apprenticeships or to start working on the island using the skills he has taught them or assisting others. There will be several modules to undertake but each student to complete the course must do an individual project, if they wish to continue engineering and spread the workload over two terms they are more than welcome to do so but they will not finish the class and be given a grade unless they complete this project.

Jul. 26th, 2013 11:45 amIt was his birthday again. Another year, another day of ageing and he could feel it. He could feel himself getting old. It was disgusting. Really, he hadn't minded ageing disgracefully when he hadn't been ageing but now he was it was ridiculous how much he hated it. He'd have to permanently ban his birthday unless they wanted to make it Nikola Tesla day and then he was all for it.
Working hard, he was construction some new equipment for the small child who seemed to idolise him whilst scribbling notes for another piece of work. Muttering to himself he hadn't even heard the door or the steps down into his private lab beneath his hut. Looking up he was startled by the appearance of his other favourite leggy, Brunette Brits.
"Hello, I hope you've brought me wine. It is my birthday," Nikola said to Mac with a smirk.

Jan. 16th, 2013 09:20 pm"If you're not naked, I'm going to be terribly disappointed in you." Nikola said loudly as he entered Mac's home with a little flourish. The fact that he had not even knocked to come in said a lot, not just about Nikola but how comfortable he felt around her. He'd been doing that to Helen for years. "Do you even realise what hour it is? I think I saw a sunrise, for the first time in at least a century and it wasn't because I stayed up for a change but because I got up early."
Nikola made himself comfortable, placing the pastries and coffee he had found down on a table. "I hope you're not decent."

Dec. 12th, 2012 10:58 pmThe rather beautiful, remarkable thing about a modern New York was not its accessibility to more than one cellar's full of decent wine but its accessibility to his own inventions. Beautiful Tesla coil's, hiding inside buildings. Pieces of his poly phase induction motor, turbines, generators. Everything that he had invented there, in use everyday by ungrateful idiots who should marvel at his gloriousness. The ingratitude was almost enough to drive him to, copious, drink but Nikola had work to do and a fully working lab.
One that put Helen's, cheapskate that she was, pathetic attempts at a Sanctuary lab to shame. He had every gadget he could possibly imagine and he was bored to tears. He supposed he could finally put his wireless electricity into use and practise but really, were was the fun in that. It was old hat, he wanted to do something new. Like... pull energy from another dimension. He could do that, oh he could do that if he had a generator large enough. And this was New York, everything was large here.
"Brilliant. As always I'm a genius," Nikola replied as he began to scribble away on the board his complex design for a trans-dimension genius. He barely noticed that someone else had come into the room until he turned his head noting the flash of movement rather than the person. "I'm sure I have a glass somewhere, fill it up or did you want something?"

Nov. 26th, 2012 08:11 pmIf Nikola had not have had work to rely upon then he might have at least been upset about the state of island politics. But seeing as he had a wheelchair to complete, his mind was distracted with far more interesting problems than did the island need more meat or the police need more suncream. He was doing real work, important work which thrilled Nikola down to his tiny little grinch of a heart. He might not be sat on a council, ruling as someone of us his species should but at least he had this.
His beautiful, sleek, all terrain wheelchair. An efficient propulsion system, stability off and on road, angled wheel systems with dual-purpose from negative camber to zero camber, dynamic braking systems. It was beautiful, it was elegant, it was like all things Nikola designed... flawless. Now, all he had to do was come up with a name for it. And of course give it to the child in question.
"All Terrain Tesla, the Teslachair, Teslaterrain... perhaps William was right." Nikola began before laughing a little madly. "Ah, that was a good one. William... right. Ah, Bran. Come to see it at last."

Nov. 11th, 2012 05:54 pm"I've been alive for over a century, you're not the first person who has said that to me and then thrown up all over my shoes. I like these shoes," Nikola replied, placing a cork in the wine and carrying the bottle. Why let it go to waste when Nikola could drink it later? Quality never really came into it when you drank by the cellar-full and not bottle-full. Though Nikola had always preferred drinking Helen's finer wines before starting on the cheap swill. "And why wouldn't you be entitled to a second chance? If this place will give it to Jack the Ripper, ha even me well then I'm sure they'll give it to you."
Nikola beckoned Guy, sliding his jacket back on and glancing at the party. He still preferred the earlier suits, back before the cravat had gone out of stile but there was still something to be said about the fine tailoring of the forties. "You're not that bad, terrible choice in friends except me of course but still not that bad."

Oct. 3rd, 2012 11:12 pmA hand grabbed the edge of the doorway, a furtive tangle mess of hair appeared before long, slim, bare legs stumbled out of the lab. A man's shirt was tugged down by elegant, slender fingers before the owner of said hands stumbled over her own feet and muttered almost incomprehensibly in Serbian. Blowing a strand of dark hair out of her eyes, the woman stumbled half drunk up the stairs in search of more wine. Because clearly that would make this whole mess seem less ridiculous. Well, only if she could get the door open of course.
"Helen!" An unfamiliar voice shouted, clearly irate and clearly feminine. The voice attached to the ungainly woman let out a groan whilst she struggled with a locked door. A locked door to a very well stocked cellar. A well stocked cellar that was fair game whilst he- she- he was staying. Helen knew that. And he- she- he was not having this. Not now! "Why have you locked the damn cellar?! Helen!"
The tall woman scowled, stumbling towards Helen's office and bursting through the door without so much as a knock.
"Why is the cellar locked? How is a man supposed to get any work done when someone locks away all the wine?" The woman asked scowling at her long suffering friend. Placing her hands on her hips, she ignored the looks she was receiving from Henry and concentrated solely on Magnus. "And where have you been for the past three days? You were only supposed to be gone a day Helen. And I need a drink."

May. 28th, 2012 07:07 amThere was a loud clatter of tools, metal hitting tiled floor followed by a louder snarl. It must have been day ending in y at the Sanctuary with yet another creature loose except it wasn't a creature. Not when the snarling turning to incomprehensible Serbian, muttering and growling in frustration as yet another item crashed into something. It wasn't an abnormal loose in the Sanctuary, it was Nikola and he was pissed.
John Bloody Druitt. Here. Trying to- his child. His. Not John's. Nikola had to admit it was rather satisfying watching the realisation on John's face that Helen was pregnant with Nikola's child but what happened next had been far from satisfying. The Sanctuary needed repairing and Nikola needed to improve the EM field the next time the rat bastard came along and tried to take Helen or his child away he would Fry.
"Heinrich that had better be the elements that I need," Nikola yelled at the sound of footsteps behind him. Nikola could barely control his temper, his eyes fully black as he blew yet another circuit in his impatience.

May. 9th, 2012 12:22 pmThere were few things, privileges really, that Nikola enjoyed more than being able to descend upon Helen's home without any warning whatsoever. Really, he would probably take Helen over a decent bottle of Merlot any day. Wine, he could get more of but there was only one Helen Magnus and he did so enjoy her company. Even if she spent half the time eyerolling at him or saying Nikola in that outraged, clipped English tone of hers.
Really, sometimes she had no idea how sexy that was.
Still seeing as he had a bottle of wine and a few hours or so to kill, Nikola descended upon Helen's home with his usual carelessness. Opening the door and announcing his visit before he knocked as an afterthought.
"Helen, you're looking..." Fat. "...fat."
He really hadn't meant to say that outloud.
"Lovely as always, I brought us some wine." Nikola said overtly leering at her breasts. What? He was monogamous, he wasn't blind.

Apr. 22nd, 2012 08:04 amKatherine had ruined his plans. Really, it was like she had done it on purpose. Nikola had deliberately timed his removal from the compound to his new abode, he had waited so patiently to strike out on his own with a network of trusted friends and those to support him when the time had come and Katherine had gone and bloody... moved. Really, he was going to have words with her and then try and see if subtle persuasion of blackmail worked in getting her back closer to him.
Ah, the Sanctuary network. Such a glorious idea. And he had such plans for it. Kitty was a plan ruiner. Still, he supposed he ought to show her some consideration since Declan had also gone and thrown a spanner into his plans disappearing on him like that. Really, how was Nikola ever supposed to take over the island like he planned when his friends kept disturbing his plans.
Scowling as he uncorked the bottle of wine, Nikola began to pour himself a glass before he walked over to the door of his abode swinging it wide open as he looked at dearest Kit.
"Katherine, I was just thinking about you." Nikola murmured with a playful smirk before ushering her inside. Nikola placed the glass in her hand before walking back to the bottle. "Come in, I suppose I should say welcome to my new home but I'm still rather mad at you for moving away. Really Kate."

A private housewarming
Apr. 6th, 2012 04:56 pmIt wasn't quite up to Nikola's exacting standards. It hardly had the lab or the technology that Nikola was used to and it certainly didn't have the cellar with all Nikola's favourite wines but really Nikola was growing sick of the Compound and his lack of space to work there in his rooms. He had work to do in his new abode but for the moment the work would have to wait. The island of course was yet again interfering in his plans to renovate.
The hut wasn't large or grand but the house it had changed into at least had some of the gravity that Nikola had been lacking recently. Two floors, a porch and a large roaring fire as well as bedrooms had at least comforted Nikola when he had returned to the property with his belongings. Setting up room for him to work in the living area, Nikola made his bedroom and living area t least habitable before building the fire waiting Alcuin's arrival.
Leaving the door open, Nikola removed his jacket and tie settling beside the fire as he began to work through his research and results for the day.

Mar. 4th, 2012 07:13 pmWhen Helen asked him, no begged him to go on a little dirty weekend away, well daytrip, how could Nikola say no? He had never been able to say no to her especially when she propositioned him like that. All sultry looks and well, stern Nikola!. A whole day away from the island with Helen alone. Nikola was going to milk today for all its worth and then gloat for weeks to John about it.
Nikola was not surprised that Helen had a contact with a boat, he was however surprised that it didn't have an engine. Really, he had to paddle? Well, at least he hadn't brought his suit for this little mission. He had dressed more appropriately for today
"Honestly Helen, you couldn't have gotten a boat with an engine? I hope you at least managed to bring glasses," Nikola replied as he carried his bag over to the boat. Helen might not have brought glasses but Nikola may have bought a flask of wine along with his water. Well, he could always live in hope that she relax a little.
